What You Need to Know About Loan Servicers

While in repayment, your loan could be transferred to a different servicer, similar to how your mortgage can be bought and sold by various lenders. This change can create confusion and concern, especially when you're contacted by a company of which you've never been a customer. Mapping Your Future, an industry partner of OCAP, has a new resource to help you understand the role of your student loan servicer, why your loan was transferred and who you can contact if you're having trouble with your new servicer. If your loan has been transferred to a new servicer, their new Web page can be a great resource to help you stay on track and avoid delinquency or default.
